How to Stay Safe at Any Fireworks Celebration

Fireworks are a beloved part of Fourth of July celebrations, but they come with risks. According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the annual tally of fireworks-related injuries treated in emergency rooms surpasses 10,000 in the United States alone. Unfortunately, nearly 42 percent of these injuries involve children under the age of 15.

When attending a fireworks display, it is important to be aware of the potential risks and take steps to stay safe. Public displays are generally much safer than private use of fireworks, as they are managed by professionals who follow strict safety protocols. However, even at public displays, it is essential to observe safety guidelines.

Here are some tips to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience:

  • Maintain Distance: Keep a safe distance from the fireworks launch site. Follow all guidelines and instructions provided by the event organizers.
  • Protect Your Hearing: Fireworks can be very loud. Consider ear protection, especially for young children.
  • Watch Your Surroundings: Be aware of your surroundings, including the location of emergency exits and first aid stations.
  • Follow Safety Rules: Respect all safety barriers and do not attempt to enter restricted areas.
  • Stay Hydrated: July is one of Miami’s hottest times of the year. Plan to drink plenty of water and stay hydrated throughout the event.

Regardless of how you choose to celebrate, we hope you enjoy a safe Fourth of July holiday. In the unfortunate event that an accident does happen, and you or a loved one is injured in a fireworks-related incident, you may be entitled to compensation for your injuries.
