For over 25 years, Panter, Panter, and Sampedro has been dedicated to the community that has supported our business. Part of the way that we give back is by providing scholarships to the top members of our next generation, our students. We enjoy rewarding ambition, talent, dedication, and academic success. Here are some of the ways that we continue to support the next generation.
Volunteer with Students
As a young lawyer, Mitchell Panter was actively involved and in charge of the High School Mock Trial Competition, which included many Miami high schools and the legal community. This program allowed local high school students to compete and participate in an actual trial judged by local attorneys and members of the Judiciary.
Mitchell also coached the Moot Court team from Killian High School for several years, culminating in the team, which included his son, Jordan Panter, going to the Florida Supreme Court for a State Championship. Mitchell also currently coaches the We The People team from Killian High School and is engaged in several other legal programs throughout the community.
Miami Killian High School’s Lorraine Silverstein Law Related Scholarship
Each year, one student who has exemplified success in the law program at Killian High School is awarded the Lorraine Silverstein Law Related Scholarship sponsored by Panter, Panter & Sampedro. This award was created in honor of Lorraine Silverstein, who taught at Killian for 17 years where she also prepared students for local and state Mock Trial and We the People competitions. The student who wins the $1,000 award must prove his or her wholehearted involvement in the school’s law program, which mirrors what Silverstein exemplified. We want the very best for our future legal professionals, so it is always an honor to participate in this award program at a local high school.
Annual Panter, Panter & Sampedro and South Miami Kendall Bar Association
Annual Scholarship
We also work closely with the South Miami Kendall Bar Association to choose a deserving high school scholarship award winner each year. To qualify for the $1,000 scholarship, the recipient must be a high school student who is enrolled in, or has taken a law studied class, or participated in a Moot Court Program, Debate Program or has participated in the Executive Internship Program at a law office during the school year. The scholarship is based upon financial need, scholarship achievement, and extracurricular activities.
Panter, Panter, and Sampedro Annual Pinecrest Collegiate Scholarship
Each year, we award a scholarship to an outstanding high school student in Pinecrest. To qualify, students must attend a high school within the Village of Pinecrest, demonstrate a minimum GPA of 3.5, and provide recommendations from at least one teacher as well as their guidance counselor. In addition, students must submit an application that includes a well-thought-out answer to an essay question, transcripts, a full resume, as well as their community service record. The $1,000 scholarship is payable directly to the student’s college or university.
Orange Bowl Youth Football Alliance College Scholarship
Another scholarship we are honored to support is the Orange Bowl Youth Football Alliance College Scholarship presented to an outstanding player or cheerleader who has proven dedication to his or her team and an outstanding academic performance in school. For several years, we awarded one deserving young student-athlete with $1,000 toward their college education.
Fundraising Drive to Provide New Computer Lab to Palmetto Middle School
In addition to the numerous scholarship programs that we have established, we also have supported academic initiatives like leading the fundraising efforts to build the new computer lab at Palmetto Middle School a few years ago. Named the Pinecrest Business Association Computer Lab, we led the fundraising drive as not only the first business to sign on as a sponsor, but also as the majority sponsor with the purchase of more than 10 computers. We truly believe that technology and education go together, and as a business in this community, we have a duty to support our students in achieving their educational goals.
Thank you to all the students we have awarded for your dedication to studies and success. We look forward to working with many more high-achievers in our community’s next generation!
