According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a fatal car accident in New Port Richey on June 13 claimed the life of a 22-year-old Hudson man. His 22-year-old passenger and the driver of the other vehicle involved in the wreck were both reported to have suffered serious injuries in the two-car collision.
Preliminary reports indicate that the car accident happened at 6 a.m. at Ridge Road and Regency Park Boulevard. At press time, authorities believe that the decedent’s eastbound Dodge Neon and a southbound Ford Mustang with a 58-year-old woman behind the wheel entered the intersection simultaneously, but it is unclear who had the green light at that time. The force of the impact caused the Neon to flip, and sources indicate that its driver then died at the scene.
Both of the injured parties were transported to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point for treatment following the incident. According to news sources, the deadly crash blocked northbound Regency Park Boulevard and caused its southbound turn lane to be closed to traffic while officials worked the scene. Ridge Road was also closed at the intersection. After hitting the right front of the Mustang, the Neon had rolled onto its side at the intersection’s southeast corner where it remained later that morning.
Although liability in this case has not been established as of press time, the decedent’s family could choose to explore the feasibility of pursuing financial compensation for their loss. However, auto litigation can be complex, and a successful cause might require the presentation of meticulously prepared evidence to the court. This family may find it beneficial to seek advice from an attorney, who may be able to evaluate the case, prepare a wrongful death suit and argue the case in court if a fair settlement with the insurers of any liable parties cannot be negotiated.
