For many, construction work is a way of life. The last thing you want to hear as a worker or loved one of a construction worker is about the dangers of construction accidents that have taken place. If you’ve been faced with one of those accidents, though, then you may understand what this man’s family must be going through right now, especially since he’s facing potentially life-changing injuries from this accident. According to the news from May 22, the man was run over by a forklift while working at a construction site.
This man, who allegedly has a home address in Florida, was working at a construction site in Ohio at the time of the accident. The 21-year-old man was collecting trash at the work site, according to the story, but one of the people at the scene had called him over to talk.
The forklift driver reported that while they were at the site of a new Dollar Tree in Dayton, he called the man over to talk and put the machine in neutral at around 8 a.m. He reportedly thought that it would be easier to talk and that the machine wouldn’t move.
The forklift operator reported that he thought that the 21-year-old man had cleared the area, but he hadn’t. Instead, the 21-year-old had been caught on the rear wheel of the forklift, was knocked to the ground and then was run over. The forklift crushed his leg and abdomen, according to the news.
Paramedics were called to the scene. The news reports that the 21-year-old man was alert when the medical team arrived, but he had suffered from serious injuries. The Occupational Safety & Health Administration has reported that it is investigating the incident. It has not released any news about the 21-year-old’s condition.
