Child suffers serious personal injury in Florida accident

Florida parents are among many others throughout the nation whose children ride school buses to and from their classrooms each day. When a mother or father entrusts his or her child’s travel to a school bus driver, he or she has the right to expect that the driver will do his or her best to keep the child safe during travel. In a recent incident, a school bus crashed and multiple students suffered personal injury.

No other vehicles were reported to have been involved in the accident, which happened on Interstate 95 close to the International Golf Parkway. Preliminary investigations suggest that at approximately 7 a.m. on a Wednesday morning, the bus suddenly careened off the road. It then smashed into a tree.

A police sergeant who responded to the scene noted that damage to the bus was quite substantial. Four students on the bus suffered injuries in the crash. Three of the injured victims were taken to a nearby medical center for treatment. The fourth, however, was transported to a Jacksonville hospital in serious condition.

Other school buses were reportedly dispatched to the scene to transport those students who were not hurt to school. Florida parents whose minor age children have been injured in motor vehicle accidents through driver negligence have the right to file personal injury claims in a civil court. In order to gain understanding of the legal process and address any questions about how best to proceed in court, a parent or legal guardian of an injured child may contact a personal injury attorney in the area for guidance.
