Car accidents leave man dead and three injured

A Miami woman got the shock of her life after her husband dropped her off at work. Just moments after arriving at work, the woman heard a loud crash and went outside to investigate the noise. There, she saw her husband’s crushed car. He was ejected from the Nissan and died at the scene.

A Mercedes-Benz hit the man’s car while allegedly drag racing, according to witnesses. The car accident occurred on the morning of Sept. 7 in the Allapattah neighborhood of Miami, at 17th Avenue and Northwest 36th Street. The driver of the Mercedes was traveling east on Northwest 36th Street while the man was turning left onto that same street. The driver of the Mercedes ran a red light and both cars collided. After the initial collision, the cars slammed into a bus.

Two people inside the Mercedes – the driver and passenger – had to be removed from the vehicle with the jaws of life. They suffered serious injuries and taken to Ryder Trauma Center for treatment. They are both now in stable condition. The bus driver had minor injuries and was treated at the accident scene. A passenger with minor injuries was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Detectives are investigating the accident scene to determine who is responsible. They are viewing surveillance video to see if drag racing was in fact to blame for this fatal accident.

Cars are not to be played around with like toys. Failure to follow traffic laws – such as speeding and running red lights – can cause serious car accidents. Once detectives determine liability – which likely lies with the driver of the Mercedes – the parties can seek legal action. The devastated wife of the deceased man may be able to receive financial compensation for her loss. Although it won’t bring back her beloved husband, she can attempt to seek closure and move on.
