Construction work is known to be hazardous, but many times the hazards faced could be eliminated. If you were hurt, for instance, by slipping on spilled water, then that hazard could have been cleaned up and your injury could have been prevented. In any injury case, you have the right to seek compensation, and with the help of an attorney, you may be able to get compensation from more than one party.

In this instance reported in the news on October 27, a construction worker from North Naples was injured and then died at work. The young man was only 21 when he was badly injured by a bulldozer that tipped over on top of him. This situation draws many questions, like how such a heavy machine fell over and who had parked it. Was it parked correctly, and was the emergency brake in gear? Were there other workers nearby when the accident happened?

Many questions have been raised about the accident, but police are still looking for answers. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office reported that the man was taken to the NCH North Naples Hospital with critical injuries, but his injuries were too severe and he passed away.

Right now, no one is saying why the bulldozer tipped over onto the worker. The company, EHC Construction, has reported that authorities are working with them to determine why the accident took place. They are also hoping to learn from the incident to protect employees from harm in the future. The police have not reported filing any charges at this point, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is not yet involved in this case as of the date of the news release.
