When the sun is out and the streets are dry, it’s more common to see motorcyclists on the road. Because they can be hard to see and are not as large as other vehicles, it’s not uncommon to hear about accidents taking place. However, if you’ve been in an accident, you are probably aware that many could be avoided if drivers were more aware of their surroundings.
Motorcycle accidents are some of the most dangerous, since riders don’t have the same protections as in a car or truck. In this case, a crash between a motorcycle and a pickup truck has resulted in one man being rushed to the hospital with serious wounds. The April 17 report from Lynn Haven, Florida, reported that the man was in critical condition after the accident.
This accident took place at around 8 p.m. The motorcyclist and pickup collided in front of the entrance to Tropical Smoothie, which is near Alabama Avenue on Highway 390. According to the police, the driver in the pickup truck was headed east on SR 390 when he turned out in front of the motorcyclist. It’s not clear if the man didn’t see the motorcyclist or if he was distracted at the time of the accident. The wreck is still under investigation by the police.
Accidents like this one can be avoided in many cases if the drivers on the road are careful about checking their surroundings before turning into traffic. Motorcycles are more likely to be on the roads in the warm weather, and it’s important that people are wary of them for the safety of the riders.
